An electric reel is a motorized fishing reel that uses an electric motor to turn the spool and pull in the line. They can be controlled with a button, switch, or manual override, and are designed to help anglers retrieve heavy fish from deep water.

The Deep 7 are seven species of bottomfish that live in the Hawaiian Archipelago at depths of up to 1,200 feet:
  • Ōpakapaka: Also known as the pink snapper or crimson jobfish
  • Onaga: Also known as the longtail red snapper, flame snapper, ruby snapper, or scarlet snapper
  • Hapuʻupuʻu: Also known as the Hawaiian grouper or seale's grouper
  • Ehu: Also known as the squirrelfish snapper
  • Kalekale: Also known as the Von Siebold's snapper or lavender snapper
  • Gindai: Also known as the Brigham's snapper
  • Lehi: Also known as the silverjaw snapper or rusty jobfish
